#1 Sleeping, everything starts with the bed. How many people will be sleeping in the van and which direction do you want to sleep. To save space some people sleep across the van. All secondary power system's have a separate battery that is used to give you 12 volt and then by having an inverter you can have 240 volt. Most items in the van run off 12 volt like the Fridge, lighting, USB charge point, The first thing you need to do when planning your power system is to make a list of everything that will use 240 power.
